The Inaugural Austin Veteran Art Festival Becomes A Reality
A Celebration of Veterans in the Fall of 2019
Austin, Texas, January, 9th, 2017 - The Veterans Suicide Prevention Channel announces the first phase of the mission completed as we have been given an opportunity to create a national Austin Veteran Arts Festival in the city of Austin, Texas. AVA Fest is scheduled to run from October 18, 2019 until November 17, 2019. The festival is for veterans and their family members. AVA Fest will emphasize alternative healing methods for veterans through art.
We will be exhibiting visual art, performance art, and music of veterans and veteran’s family members in 5 City of Austin Museums & Cultural Centers. The festival will have concerts, poetry slams, classes and talks, culinary demonstrations, a tricked-out car and motorcycle show and more.
AVA Fest is the brainchild of the VSP Channel founder and chairman, Glenn Towery. He states, “Art is a healing element that has the powers to put one's mind at rest from conditions that often foster PTSD and other mental illnesses. It is my hope that we are able to create an art festival for veterans that changes their lives forever.”
This national festival has caught the attention of several Austin commissions and soon Austin Mayor, Steve Adler.
