TOM LEA was a combat artist, perhaps the first of his kind. He served during WWII and was embedded with the Marines who fought in the Pacific Theater of the war against the Japan. Art then was a powerful tool to help record WWII by painting it. TOM LEA was a prolific artist. This painting was called, “THAT 2000 YARD STARE” . It depicts a soldier during WWII who was probably suffering from PTSD which was called “Shell Shock” during WWII..

America’s Oldest living veteran of WWII finally succumbed to time at the age of 112 years old. Born on May 11, 1906 he lived to see December 27, 2018. Mr. Overton was an American supercentenarian who at the age of 112 years, 230 days was the oldest verified surviving U.S. World War II veteran and oldest man in the United States. He served in the United States Army during WWII

The Field of Honor is an exquisite event that happens every year in Georgetown for the past 5 years. We are proud to create an exhibit for this wonderful event which flies nearly 2000 American flags bearing veterans names to honor them for their service. We hope you will visit the Field Of Honor and stop by to see the veterans art exhibit we are curating for that event.
On November 11 -12, the CAMP MABRY TEXAS MILITARY MUSEUM will sponsor an AVAFEST ART EXHIBIT at their Museum. This exhibit is open to the public and will feature some wonderful veterans art from veterans who suffer with PTSD. Hope you will come out, support and meet the veterans and see their art.
